ulhas%20Current%20compared%20to%20the%20jet%20transport.%20This%20was%20because%20the%20model%20is%20unable%20to%20resolve%20the%20dynamics%20associated%20with%20meander%20events%2C%20for%20which%20the%20jet%20transport%20algorithm%20was%20developed.%20The%20HYCOM%20configuration%20in%20this%20study%5Cncontained%20exaggerated%20levels%20of%20offshore%20variability%20in%20the%20form%20of%5Cnfrequently%20impinging%20baroclinic%20anticyclonic%20eddies.%20These%20eddies%5Cnconsequently%20broke%20down%20the%20linear%20relationship%20between%20SSH%20slope%20and%5Cnvertically%20integrated%20transport.%20Lastly%2C%20results%20showed%20that%20calculating%20the%5Cnproxy%20over%20shorter%20or%20longer%20time%20periods%20in%20the%20model%20did%20not%20significantly%5Cnimpact%20the%20skill%20of%20the%20Agulhas%20transport%20proxy.%20Modelling%20studies%20of%20this%5Cnkind%20provide%20useful%20information%20towards%20advancing%20our%20understanding%20of%20the%5Cnsensitivities%20and%20limitations%20of%20transport%20proxies%20that%20are%20needed%20to%20improve%5Cnlong-term%20ocean%20monitoring%20approaches.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222019-05-14%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.5194%5C%2Fos-15-513-2019%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%221812-0792%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fos.copernicus.org%5C%2Farticles%5C%2F15%5C%2F513%5C%2F2019%5C%2F%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22BGDWYJZJ%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222022-04-13T19%3A01%3A33Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
