Argo South Africa

Argo South Africa

South Africa is part of a global ocean observation network through the Argo program, an international array of robotic floats that measure temperature, salinity, and currents throughout the world’s oceans. Through Argo South Africa, schools across the country have adopted their own Argo floats, following their journeys in real time and connecting classroom learning to the living ocean. The map above shows the latest position of all the Argo Floats deployed from South African research ships as of June 2026.
